This weekend (Friday through Monday), pastors and church members from all over the United States will be gathering at Messiah College for the bi-annual Brethren in Christ General Assembly. Every two years, we gather as a larger church body to worship, reflect, and discuss what it means to live for Jesus as part of the Brethren in Christ Church. I am excited to be attending my first conference as the pastor of HBIC. (Although two years ago, the Assembly was held in Florida so I would have been a little more excited for that one!). This year’s theme is “to know, love, & follow Jesus.”
This coming Sunday, while I’m at the General Assembly, Ben Newton will be sharing with HBIC. Ben is both a former (and soon to be returning to the field) missionary as well as an Upward soccer parent. He has served overseas as well as on BIC church staffs in the local area. I met Ben a few months ago and think you’ll really enjoy hearing his heart for the lost and his passion for serving Jesus!
Finally, don’t forget to get involved this week in several different opportunities around this church.
—Tonight, Sports Ministry is meeting and would love to have you join them as they reach young men and women through basketball and board games (6:30-8:30 in Gym & Youth Room).
—Wednesday Night is The Dwelling Place. Join us for a time of prayer, worship, and reflection! (7:00-8:30 in the Prayer Room downstairs).
— Friday is our monthly Free Coffee and Donut Drive Thru! Stop by and grab a treat on your way to work or help serve some coffee if you have some free time. (7:00-9:00 in the lobby/carport).
— Saturday is our annual church Yard Sale. Get involved…whether you help set up, rent a table, serve in the kitchen, help clean up, or simply just come to shop…there’s something for everyone to do(8:00-1:00 in the Gym).
In Christ Alone,
Pastor Jan
